Luis de Guindos, an economist at IE Business School and director of the PwC and IE Business School Center for the Finance Sector, has been appointed Spain’s new Minister of Finance and Competitiveness.

Luis de Guindos has taught economy on IE’s senior management programs and served as director of the PwC & IE Business School Center for the Finance Sector since February of 2010. The Center, unique in Spain and independent of banks, examines the future challenges facing the Spanish and international finance sector, including new regulations and monitoring mechanisms.

 Luis de Guindos has extensive experience in Spanish and international economy in both the public and private sector. His previous positions include Secretary of State for Economy under José María Aznar, partner of AB Asesores, and president of Lehman Brothers for Spain and Portugal. De Guindos holds a degree in economic and business studies and belongs to Spain’s prestigious Cuerpo de Técnicos Comerciales y Economistas del Estado (National Association for Trade Experts and State Economists).

Luis de Guindos, experto de IE Business School, nuevo Ministro de Economía

Luis de Guindos, economista de IE Business School y director del Centro del Sector Financiero de PwC e IE Business School, ha sido nombrado nuevo Ministro de Economía y Competitividad del Gobierno español.

“Es un orgullo para IE Business School que uno de nuestros prominentes expertos haya sido nombrado Ministro de Economía del nuevo Gobierno”, señala Santiago Íñiguez de Onzoño, Decano de IE Business School. Luis de Guindos es profesor de Economía de programas de alta dirección y Director del Centro del Sector Financiero de PwC & IE Business School desde febrero de 2010. Esta institución, única en España e independiente de Bancos y Cajas de Ahorros, analiza los retos que afronta el sector financiero español e internacional, así como el futuro de la regulación y supervisión del sector.

Luis de Guindos cuenta con una dilatada experiencia nacional e internacional en el sector público y privado. En el primero, fue Secretario de Estado de Economía en el Gobierno de José María Aznar, y en el sector privado fue socio consejero de AB Asesores y presidente de Lehman Brothers para España y Portugal, entre otros cargos. De Guindos es Licenciado en Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales y Técnico Comercial y pertenece al Cuerpo de Técnicos Comerciales y Economistas del Estado.
