Santiago Iñiguez, President of IE University and Dean of IE Business School, analyzes the challenges and new trends facing Higher Education, as well as the importance of “Edupreneurship”. These trends and ways of differentiation were analyzed at IE this week during the “Reinventing Higher Education” conference, which gathered presidents and rectors of universities from every continent.

Estos temas y las nuevas vías de diferenciación en el sector educativo fueron analizados esta semana en IE en la jornada “Reinventing Higher Education” que reunió a presidentes y rectores de universidades de varios continentes.

A group of international experts is meeting during the next two days on the campus of IE University in Segovia to discuss issues related to the current economic and social crisis as well as innovation from an interdisciplinary perspective.

This meeting brings together some of the best specialists in Accounting and Anthropology in the world, mainly from the UK and U.S., and its primary aim is to contribute to the understanding of the roles of organizations and institutions at the current historical crossroads through the study of historical and contemporary cases. 

The workshop, organized by IE University´s Professor of Business Alice Rose Bryer has a dozen first-rate speakers, mostly from anglo-saxon universities. In addition, the Rector of IE University, Salvador Carmona, editor of European Accounting Review, member of the Executive Committee of the European Accounting Association and President of the Academy of Accounting Historians participates as an expert in this meeting. 

The issues to be discussed at the workshop include a debate on the current economic crisis, the role of accounting in organizational management and policy issues, and innovation from a humanistic perspective. 

“This is a conference that brings together Anthropologists and Professors of Accounting and Economics from England and the United States to discuss the economic crisis of our time, the role of accounting, and organizations and institutions in general. The anthropological component is very important for finding solutions to problems identified,” says Bryer. 

This scientific meeting is part of the academic activities promoted by the international faculty that teaches the degree of Business Administration at IE University in its two campuses of Segovia and Madrid. This type of workshop aims to analyze the latest research and the most significant scientific trends related to business processes and organization of institutions and enterprises.

IE University reúne en Segovia a expertos internacionales para analizar la crisis social y económica actual 

Un grupo de expertos internacionales se reúne durante los dos próximos días en el campus de  IE University en Segovia con el fin de analizar cuestiones relacionadas con la crisis social y económica actual y la innovación desde una perspectiva interdisciplinar. 

Esta reunión, que congrega a algunos de los mejores especialistas en accounting (contabilidad) y en antropología del mundo, principalmente de Reino Unido y Estados Unidos, tiene como objetivo primordial contribuir a la comprensión de las funciones de las organizaciones y las instituciones en la encrucijada histórica actual por medio del estudio de casos históricos y contemporáneos. 

El taller, organizado por la profesora del grado de Business de IE University Alice Rose Bryer, cuenta con una decena de ponentes de primera fila, la mayoría procedentes de universidades anglosajonas. Además participa en calidad de experto el rector de IE University, Salvador Carmona, editor del European Accounting Review, miembro del Comité Ejecutivo de la European  Accounting Association y Presidente de la Academy of Accounting Historians. 

Entre los asuntos que se tratarán en el workshop figuran el debate sobre la crisis económica actual, el papel de la contabilidad en la gestión de las organizaciones, así como cuestiones de política económica e innovación bajo una perspectiva humanista. 

“Se trata de una conferencia que pone en contacto a antropólogos y profesores de contabilidad y economía de Inglaterra y de Estados Unidos para hablar sobre la crisis económica de nuestro tiempo, el papel de accounting, y de las organizaciones y instituciones en general.  El componente antropológico es importante porque implica buscar soluciones a los problemas que identificamos”, afirma Bryer. 

Esta reunión científica se enmarca dentro de las actividades académicas impulsadas por el claustro internacional que imparte el grado de  Administración de Empresas de IE University en sus dos campus de Segovia y Madrid. Este tipo de workshop tiene como objetivo analizar los últimos trabajos de investigación y  las tendencias científicas más significativas relacionadas con los procesos empresariales y la organización de las instituciones y las empresas.

IE University holds the No. 45 position worldwide and No. 21 in Europe in a survey conducted by International Herald Tribune to gauge which universities employers intend to recruit from in the future.

IE University holds the No. 45 position worldwide and No. 21 in Europe in a survey conducted by International Herald Tribune to gauge which universities employers intend to recruit from in the future. The ranking analyzed the opinions of 3,000 CEOs and senior managers from 1,000 companies in Germany, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, US, Spain, France, Italy, Holland and UK, about the best 150 universities in terms of graduate employability. US universities Harvard, Stanford and Yale achieved the top positions in the ranking, which includes 23 universities in North America, 21 in Europe, and 2 in Asia. European institutions include 2 Spanish universities, Universidad de Navarra (41st) and IE University (45th).

International Herald Tribune drew up the ranking in collaboration with consulting companies Emerging (France) and Trendence (Germany), with the aim of evaluating opinions held by senior managers, who were asked to allocate scores to universities in their country, continent, and other world regions. The main findings of the survey include the fact that recruiters prefer to contract graduates from universities that have close ties with the corporate world, where students accumulate professional experience during their university career. Hence this international ranking serves to identify the best centers of learning in terms of subsequent employment opportunities. 

“The fact that our university model is recognized by recruiters worldwide is a source of great satisfaction,” says Salvador Carmona, Rector of IE University. “IE University enjoys close links with the corporate world, and this report clearly states that the connection between universities and businesses is playing an increasingly important role”. 

On October 17 and 18 IE University hosted the International Conference on Reinventing Higher Education, organized jointly with The Chronicle of Higher Education. The conference brought together the presidents and rectors of US, European, Asian and Arab universities to examine key issues that included the challenge of ensuring employability among university graduates, currently a hot topic among international media, as evidenced by articles like this in the International Herald Tribune

 IE University ocupa la 45ª posición del mundo en el ranking de universidades de International Herald Tribune, un informe que analiza cuáles son las principales universidades en las que los empleadores piensan reclutar en el futuro.  

IE University ocupa la posición 45 del mundo y la 21 de Europa en el ranking de universidades de International Herald Tribune, un informe que analiza cuáles son las principales universidades en las que los empleadores piensan reclutar en el futuro. Este ranking analiza la opinión de 3.000 consejeros delegados y altos ejecutivos de 1.000 compañías en Alemania, Bélgica, Brasil, Canadá, EE.UU., España, Francia, Italia, Países Bajos y Reino Unido, sobre las mejores 150 universidades en términos de empleabilidad de los graduados universitarios. Las estadounidenses Harvard, Stanford y Yale ocupan los primeros puestos del ranking, que incluye 23 universidades norteamericanas, 21 europeas y 2 asiáticas entre las 50 mejores del mundo. Entre ellas, el ranking incluye 2 universidades españolas, Universidad de Navarra (41º) e IE University (45º).International Herald Tribune ha realizado este ranking en colaboración con las consultoras Emerging (Francia) y Trendence (Alemania), para evaluar la opinión de altos directivos que han puntuado la calidad de universidades de su país, de su continente y de otras regiones del mundo. Entre las principales conclusiones, destaca el hecho de que los reclutadores contratan graduados preferentemente en universidades que mantienen estrecho contacto con el mundo empresarial, cuyos alumnos acumulan experiencia profesional durante su carrera universitaria. Este informe internacional proporciona una herramienta para identificar los mejores centros donde estudiar para conseguir un trabajo.

“Es una gran satisfacción ver nuestro modelo universitario reconocido por reclutadores de todo el mundo. IE University mantiene un estrecho contacto con el mundo empresarial, y este informe constata que la conexión entre universidad y empresa es más necesaria que nunca”, indica Salvador Carmona, Rector de IE University.

En esta línea, IE University reunió los pasados 17 y 18 de octubre a Presidentes y Rectores de universidades americanas, europeas, asiáticas y del mundo árabe, en la Conferencia Reinventing Higher Education organizada junto con The Chronicle of Higher Education. En el congreso se analizaron, entre otras cuestiones, los retos de la empleabilidad de los graduados universitarios, un tema de debate subrayado por medios internacionales como el propio International Herald Tribune.
