El proximo miercolés 20 de marzo, IE inaugura su nuevo pabellón, edificio temporal diseñado con tubos de cartón por el arquitecto japonés Shigeru Ban. Con motivo de esta inauguración, IE School of Architecture & Design en colaboración con la Japan Foundation, ha organizado una conferencia de Shigeru Ban, titulada “Appropriate Architecture” ese mismo día 20 de marzo a las 19,00 horas en el propio pabellón, en la calle Serrano 99, Madrid.

La conferencia esta abierta al público. Se ruega confirmar al email dean@ie.edu    

Next March 20th, IE will inaugurate its new Paper Pavilion, a temporary cardboard tubes building designed by japanese architect Shigeru Ban. 

On that day, IE School of Architecture & Design in collaboration with the Japan Foundation, organize a lecture by Prof. Ban “Appropriate Architecture” that will take place on the same March 20th at 19:00 at the proper Pavilion, C/ Serrano 99, in Madrid 

The lecture is open to anyone and confirmation can be made at dean@ie.edu   

Architecture of engagement goes beyond the mere production of space and seeks to expressa point of view, to include in the design process the active participation of future users and inhabitants, and to see Architecture as a strategy as well as an end product. Often architects and firms that understand the potential of architecture to engage on many levels with society are ready to see their projects as the work of a collective, receiving input and feedback from clients and society at large. The five professionals who participate in the 2012-13 lecture series illustrate, through their work and research, the power of architecture to connect people, spaces, ideas, and even projects that will be developed in the future. 

Josep Bunyesc (Lleida 1979) is an Architect graduated from the Polytechnic School of Architecture of Barcelona (2003) and holds a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) of sustainable architecture from the EPFL Lausanne and the UC Lovaine (2005). Since 2003 he is a Phd Candidate in Sustainable Architecture and the Economics of Energy and Housing for Alpine Areas at the UPC, Barcelona. He has collaborated in diverse projects of urban design and heritage conservation with the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalunya. Among his constructed projects, a refurbishment of diverse traditional buildings in the Pyrenees of Lerida, a house in wood and sheep wool following the standard of PASSIV HOUSE in Lerida, which was pioneer in Spain, the NOEM mass-produced housing module of CO2 xxxx and the extension of the Colomina mountain shelter stand. He won the 1st European Prize of EIT Entrepeneurship awards and the 1st Prize in the Iberoamerican Passivhaus Competition. Most recently, he has been awarded the National Prize of the Arts in Catalunya 2012. Josep Bunyesc constructed the first passive house in Lérida, his own house, during a time frame of five weeks. Today, he works in this same city with two part time collaborating architects and two students. 

El arquitecto catalán Josep Bunyesc muestra sus últimos trabajos a los alumnos de IE University  

El arquitecto Josep Bunyesc (Lleida, 1979), ganador del Premio Nacional de Arquitectura Cataluña 2012, ofreció hoy en el campus de IE University en Segovia  la conferencia  “Prefabricación con materiales locales”, organizada por la Escuela de Arquitectura bajo la coordinación de la profesora Laura Martínez de Guereñu. 

Bunyesc es una de las jóvenes promesas de la arquitectura española que utilizar innovadores materiales en sus proyectos. Arquitecto por la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona (2003) y Máster of Advanced Studies (MAS) de arquitectura sostenible por la EPFL Lausana y la UC de Lovaina (2005), Josep Bunyesc (Lleida, 1979) es doctorando en arquitectura sostenible y economía de energía y vivienda en zonas de montaña en la UPC, Barcelona. 

Ha colaborado en diversos proyectos de urbanismo y de conservación de patrimonio con el Departamento de Cultura de la Generalitat de Catalunya. Entre sus proyectos construidos destacan la rehabilitación de diversos edificios tradicionales en el Pirineo de Lérida, una vivienda con estructura de madera y lana de oveja según el estándar de PASSIV HOUSE de Lleida, pionero en España, el módulo para vivienda pasiva seriada NOEM de CO2 neutro y la ampliación del refugio Colomina.  Read more…

From the 20th until the 22nd of June 2012, Barcelona will be the headquarters of the international conference of architecture, education and professional practice: CHANGE, Architecture, Education & Practices, led by Martha Thorne, Associate Dean of External Relations at IE School of Architecture & Design and Xavier Costa, director of Northeastern University. 

“It is the first time since 2005 that ACSA organizes an International Conference; it is very satisfying that Spain and IE as an innovative school in the sector have been selected to co organize it,” said Javier Quintana, Dean of IE School of Architecture & Design. 

The International Conference of the prestigious Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) will be attended by prominent guests such as Bjarke Ingels, Odile Decq y Joan Busquets. 

The subject of the conference will be based on the importance of schools and intellectual leadership in the new economic scenarios and professional cultures in architecture. The ACSA 2012 Conference will focus on change and exploring these issues in relation to seven themes: Civic Engagement, Academy, Practice, Technology, Cities, Globalization, Sustainability and one additional flexible category.

IE School of Architecture & Design co-organiza la ACSA International Conference en Barcelona

Del 20 al 22 de Junio 2012, Barcelona será la sede del congreso internacional de arquitectura, educación y práctica profesional: CHANGE, Architecture, Education & Practices, dirigido por Martha Thorne, Vicedecana de Relaciones Externas de IE School of Architecture & Design y Xavier Costa, director de Northeastern University.

“Es la primera vez desde 2005 que ACSA organiza una Conferencia Internacional; es muy satisfactorio que se elija a España y a IE como escuela innovadora en el sector para coorganizarla”, señala Javier Quintana, Decano de IE School of Architecture & Design.

La Conferencia Internacional de la prestigiosa Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) contará con la participación y exposición de destacados invitados como Bjarke Ingels, Odile Decq y Joan Busquets.

El tema de conferencia se basa en la importancia de las escuelas y el liderazgo intelectual en los nuevos escenarios económicos y culturas profesionales en la arquitectura. La Conferencia ACSA 2012 se centra en el cambio y explora estos temas en relación a siete temáticas: Compromiso Cívico, Academia, Práctica, Tecnología, Ciudades, Globalización, Sustentabilidad y una categoría flexible.

As part of the Architectural Association Interprofessional Studio (AAIS) the Workshop ”Show and Tell” directed by Architect and Editor/Curator Edgar Gonzalez will explore, with the students and professors of this post graduate degree of the architecture school of London, the outs-cope of the impact of the practice in the media. See more

As part of the the course, which explores alternative forms of collaboration between the multiple creative professions through the research, conception, design and implementation/production of a series of genre-defying spatial performances and constructions. Gonzalez´s experience with media and digital social platforms will play the role of a consulting communication specialist towards the forthcoming Studio event: Planes of Intersection: 24cc which will take place in May at Matadero Cultural Center in Madrid. 

The relationships between media consumption and distribution, in a world overwhelmed with information, needs to be rethought. Around this idea the exercise will revolve, producing a set of documents that will help with the distribution of the message we want to deliver to different profiles within the spectrum of interested people. 

Press Release, Outline, Storyboard, Script, tweet´s, webpage, are going to be some of the possible outcomes of this exercise about communication and reflection about the main concepts behind the 24cc / Planes of Intersection. 

The workshop will take place at the Architectural Association, London on the 21-23dr of March with the students and Tutors of the AA Interprofesional Studio, lead by Edgar Gonzalez.

Nacido en Zamora, Michoacán, México en 1972. Arquitecto por el Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Occidente ITESO Guadalajara, México 1996. Ha trabajado como diseñador Gráfico/Editorial en: Architectural Association London, Phaidon Press, The Economist, The Guardian Group. Trabajó como arquitecto con Zaha Hadid Architects y Arquitecturas TorresNadal. Particularmente interesado en la relación de las nuevas tecnologías y nuevos medios aplicados a los procesos creativos, ha colaborado como artista/diseñador en diversas exposiciones y proyectos. 

Colaboró en la universidad de Alicante en los estudios de licenciatura en arquitectura así como en el Máster en Arquitecturas Complejas. Actualmente participa como conferenciante en varias universidades en España, y consultorí­a de estrategias virales, redes sociales, y nuevas formas de creación/fabricación digital. Dirige desde 2005 su despacho de arquitectura / servicios colaterales / consultoría en Madrid.

The fifteenth century Gothic doorway of the auditorium at IE University, the work of the Spanish sculptor and architect Juan Guas, was today an extraordinary witness to an outside class of architecture in which senior students have shared with their  teachers the first phase of their annual project. To do this,  their  models have been placed , one after another, in the entrance courtyard of the University to be assessed by the professors Jose Vela,  Cesare Battelli, Jose Luis Luque and Fernando  Moral, who have advised students to apply to their work the concepts learned in the classroom. 

Under the general title “The writing of the disaster,” the students have had to develop an architectural design, taking inspiration from Venice first,  then the city of Vienna and the Danube river environment in Austria. 

These  future architects have to investigate the relations which exist between the space of the city –in its different times : past, present and future – and the  living space. 

“This is a project that spans the entire second half of the year,  starting off with  an initial phase conducted in groups and moving on to individual work later,” said the Italian architect and professor at IE University Cesare Battelli.

Professor José Vela added that the proposed work to the students has focused “on the relationship between architecture and writing, working on space and time in which the architecture exists and is projected.”

The School of Architecture and Design at  IE University is a faculty  that trains architects  as global leaders in design excellence, innovation and management. It contains  an international and diverse mixture  of cultures where the prestige of Spanish as a backdrop reflects its thinking perspective. Las maquetas de los estudiantes de Arquitectura salen a la calle 

La portada gótica del Aula Magna de IE University, obra escultor y arquitecto español del siglo XV Juan Guas, ha sido hoy testigo de excepción de una clase al aire libre de Proyectos Arquitectónicos. Los trabajos de alumnos de últimos cursos de carrera han sido valorados por un “Jury”, comité de evaluación docente, constituido por los profesores de proyectos José Vela, Cesare Battelli, José Luis Luque y Fernando Moral en el que se debatía en torno a la primera fase del trabajo proyectual del segundo semestre.  Para ello, los estudiantes han colocado en el patio de entrada de la universidad sus maquetas, una tras otra, para ser evaluadas por sus profesores, quienes los asesoran en todas las fases del trabajo para que apliquen en sus proyectos los conceptos aprendidos en el aula. 

Bajo el título general de “La escritura del desastre”, los alumnos de Arquitectura están desarrollando propuestas sobre un área particular de la ciudad de Viena, con la intención de encontrar soluciones proyectuales, actuales e innovadoras. Además, los futuros arquitectos tienen que investigar las relaciones que se desarrollan entre el espacio de la ciudad -en sus diferentes tiempos de pasado, presente, futuro-, y el espacio del habitar. 

“Se trata de un proyecto que abarca todo el segundo semestre, y que comprende una fase inicial realizada en grupos completada con un trabajo individual posterior”, explica el arquitecto italiano y profesor de IE University Cesare Battelli. Por su parte, el profesor José Vela añade que el trabajo propuesto a los estudiantes se ha centrado “en las relaciones entre arquitectura y escritura, trabajando sobre el espacio y el tiempo en que la arquitectura existe y se proyecta”.
