Martha Thorne appointed Dean of IE School of Architecture and Design

Martha_ThorneIE University announced the appointment of Martha Thorne as Dean of IE School of Architecture. Martha Thorne has served as the Executive Director of the Pritzker Architecture Prize since 2005. She held the position of Associate Curator of the Department of Architecture at The Art Institute of Chicago from 1996 to 2005. She is the editor and author of several books, including The Pritzker Architecture Prize: The First Twenty Years, and author of numerous articles for architecture journals and encyclopedias. Ms. Thorne holds a Master of City Planning degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Affairs from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She undertook additional studies at the London School of Economics.

Martha Thorne has formed part of the IE School of Architecture & Design management team since its inception and previously served as Associate Dean for External Relations.

“Martha Thorne’s commitment to international architectural education and her expertise in the global architecture market have made her a reference worldwide within the industry,” said Santiago Iñiguez, President of IE University. “Her appointment as Dean of IE School of Architecture and Design will serve to further the School’s aim to bring the best of innovation and management to architectural disciplines.”

IE School of Architecture & Design places emphasis on excellence in design, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Throughout its different programs such as the Bachelor in Architecture, the Master in Architectural Management & Design and the Master in Design for Work, Retail and Learning Environments, IE students are encouraged to take a creative approach to architecture, learn the latest digital skills in a contemporary context, and develop talents to become leaders in a changing field.

Martha Thorne, nombrada Decana de IE School of Architecture and Design.

IE University anunció el nombramiento de Martha Thorne como Decana de IE School of Architecture. Desde 2005, Thorne es Directora Ejecutiva del Premio Pritzker de Arquitectura. Ha sido Associate Curator del Departamento de Arquitectura en el Art Institute of Chicago desde 1996 hasta 2005. Es editora y autora de varias publicaciones, incluyendo The Pritzker Architecture Prize: The First Twenty Years, y ha escrito numerosos artículos en revistas de arquitectura y enciclopedias. Thorne posee un Máster de Planificación Urbana en la Universidad de Pensilvania y una Licenciatura en Urbanismo  en la Universidad Estatal de Nueva York, en Buffalo. Amplió sus estudios en la London School of Economics y ha formado parte del equipo  de IE School of Architecture & Design desde su creación; hasta ahora ejercía las funciones de vicedecana de relaciones externas de esta escuela.
