marcobneito2“Trust, Contract, Property” and “Trusts in Civil Law Systems” were the topics of the two first seminars of the European Module “Towards a Common Private Law of Europe” of IE University. 

The seminars were led by Paola Manes, Professor at the University of Bologna, a close collaborator of the great Francesco Galgano and a renowned expert in the field. Professor Manes guided the audience through the complexity of the legal structure of trusts and the difficulties they raise from a civil law perspective. 

The first seminar was held on November 18 in the Madrid campus of IE University, with Francisco Marcos, Professor of IE Law School, as discussant. A number of lawyers and professors from other universities attended the event. The second seminar took place on November 19 in the Segovia campus of IE University. Marco de Benito and Francisco de Elizalde, Professors of IE Law School, joined Paola Manes at the table. Both events included a lively discussion. 

The European Module “Towards a Common Private Law of Europe” is a IE University undertaking within the prestigious Jean Monnet Programme of the European Commission. Headed by Professor Marco de Benito, it aims at helping students, scholars, and lawyers develop a more global and comparative understanding of the law.

El trust, objeto de los primeros seminarios del Módulo Jean Monnet de IE University

“Trust, Contract, Property” y “Trusts in Civil Law Systems” fueron los temas de los dos primeros seminarios del Módulo Europeo “Hacia un Derecho privado común para Europa” de IE University.

Los seminarios fueron dirigidos por Paola Manes, Profesora de la Universidad de Bolonia, discípula y colaboradora del gran Francesco Galgano y reconocida experta en la materia. La Profesora Manes guió a los asistentes a través de la compleja estructura jurídica del trust y las dificultades que plantea para las jurisdicciones de tradición romanística.

marcobenitoEl primero de los dos seminarios se celebró el 18 de noviembre en el campus madrileño de IE University, con Francisco Marcos, Profesor de IE Law School, como discussant. Un nutrido grupo de abogados y profesores de otras universidades asistieron al evento. El segundo seminario tuvo lugar el 19 de noviembre en el campus de Segovia de IE University. Marco de Benito y Francisco de Elizalde, Profesores de IE Law School, formaron mesa redonda con Paola Manes. Los dos seminarios dieron lugar a un animado debate.

El Módulo Europeo “Hacia un Derecho privado común para Europa” es un proyecto de IE University en el marco del prestigioso Programa Jean Monnet de la Comisión Europea. Dirigido por el Profesor Marco de Benito, el objetivo del Módulo es contribuir a una visión del Derecho más global y comparada, no sólo entre los alumnos sino en la comunidad jurídica, académica y profesional.
