IE LABS 2014

  • 20131113_124759The IE Labs are fully-tutored working spaces in which IE university students develop professional projects while continuing with their studies.
  • › Labs are a way in which students can work closely with companies, or start up their own business, while remaining at the University –with all its advantages.
  • › Labs provide an excellent opportunity for students who want hands-on experience, interdisciplinary knowledge and challenging projects, which they can carry out in order to gain professional skills.

START-UP LAB 

  • Investigate the feasibility of a business idea, study its need.
  • Develop a feasible business plan in order to present it through a business pitch to possible investors.

CONSULTANCY LABS 

  • Hands-on, internship-like experience working on a portfolio of projects for companies and institutions in a variety of sectors.
  • Each Lab operates like a small company with deadlines and deliverables.

SOCIAL IMPACT PROJECT LAB 

  • Work in a development project with two axes, Microfinance & Water sanitation, to improve the living conditions of a small Ghanaian community called Larbi.

Who may join? 

›  Aimed specifically for 1st & 2nd year students seeking a more fulfilling internship placement, although more senior students are also welcomed

 

What Lab to choose? 

All IE University undergraduate students from any program are eligible to apply to any IE Lab

Students can choose to work in an IE Lab that matches their professional interests, or an IE Lab that is outside of their field of study in order to broaden their areas of knowledge and work with people with different profiles.

›The rules of the Labs

  • Students must fulfill their commitment to the IE Lab they have jointed›
  • Labs will be offered contingent on a minimum number of students.
›“Contract”duration: 5 months
  • During the second semester (workload: 4-6 hours/week) and the internship period , after final exams till the end of June (workload: approx 4 hours/day).
›Incentives

– It will appear in your transcript as a complementary activity

– You may earn 3 ECTs (if you ask for credit recognition)

– You will receive a grade for your work in the Lab

IE LABS 2014

20131113_123941El campus de Santa Cruz la Real albergó hoy la IE Lab Fair, una feria en la que se ha presentado a los alumnos de grado de IE university los laboratorios empresariales que se pondrán en marcha en este curso académico. Los “Labs” u observatorios son proyectos que los alumnos desarrollan conjuntamente con empresas e instituciones con los que la universidad ha firmado convenio.

Como se recordará, los estudiantes de IE University trabajan en las instalaciones del laboratorio empresarial que alberga la Casa de la Moneda de Segovia, en el que desarrollan proyectos vinculados con la arquitectura, el arte, la comunicación, el derecho, los deportes, la gestión, las finanzas y la psicología.

Este laboratorio se divide en dos áreas: una incubadora empresarial, donde la universidad ayuda a sus estudiantes a montar su propia empresa, y los “labs” propiamente dichos, denominados también observatorios, que son proyectos que los alumnos desarrollan conjuntamente con empresas e instituciones con las que IE University mantiene convenios. En estos observatorios, los estudiantes de IE University realizan trabajos muy diversos, fundamentalmente consultorías e informes. Los alumnos que participen en esta iniciativa presentarán sus resultados en la compañía y recibirán talleres prácticos por parte de los ejecutivos de esas empresa sy serán asesorados por los profesores y tutores de cada proyecto.

El laboratorio empresarial fue puesto en marcha en virtud de un convenio con el Ayuntamiento de Segovia, que cedió las dependencias del edificio cultural de la Casa de la Moneda para este fin. El edificio se encuentra a unos metros del campus del centro privado, ubicado en el histórico Convento de Santa Cruz la Real.
