IEExpeeience 1 IE UniversityNext week on Monday the 16th of September, IE University will kick off the 2013-2014 academic year with a new version of its welcoming activities known as “Orientation Week”. Over the course of three days, the largely international freshman students, many of which had to pass through demanding academic and personal tests to enter the university, will be given introductions about the University.

The first day, all students will receive information on the way the general university system works. Tuesday the 17th is dedicated to the bachelors that  make up the academic offer at IE University; this day, representatives from each bachelor will inform registered students on different operations including  curricular design, attendance, evaluation systems, etc. The third and last day, Wednesday the 18th, is dedicated to extracurricular activities, both cultural and sports, the objective is to insure the students’ stay at IE University is a vital experience.   

Thus the Orientation Week becomes an excellent instrument to prepare students for their journey along the academic life they are about to begin. These activities are also geared to create a feeling of identity between students and their university, helping with them integrate and at the same time create a truly authentic university community.

IE University celebra la “Semana de Orientación” 

Alumnos IE UniversityIE University celebra los días 16, 17 y 18 de septiembre unas jornadas de orientación ( Orientation Week) destinada a los más de cuatrocientos alumnos nuevos que inician sus estudios superiores. Durante esos días, los estudiantes internacionales de primer año recibirán charlas y realizarán actividades que les servirá para integrarse en lo que será su futura universidad.  

El primer día, todos los estudiantes reciben en común información que afecta al funcionamiento general. El martes 17 está dedicado a los diferentes grados que integran la oferta académica de IE University;  este día, cada uno de los grados informa a los estudiantes matriculados acerca de su funcionamiento, en cuestiones que van desde el diseño curricular, a la asistencia, sistemas de evaluación, etc. El tercer y ultimo día, miércoles 18, está dedicado a la oferta extracurricular, deportiva y cultural, cuyo objetivo es convertir la estancia de los alumnos en una experiencia vital.

La Orientation Week se convierte así en un instrumento excelente para preparar a los estudiantes para su andadura a lo largo del curso que ahora se inicia. Pero esta serie de actividades pretende, asimismo, generar un sentimiento de identificación entre el alumno y la universidad, favoreciendo la integración y la creación de una auténtica comunidad universitaria.
