This research project, carried out by Atlético de Madrid Foundation and IE University, will serve to launch the Think Tank: an observatory lab as part of the sports´club Research and Development efforts. The observatory promotes applied research to sports, marketing, management, physical education and sports medicine. The aim of the center focuses on developing activities to improve the lives of athletes and to promote values ​​integral to sports in regular to society. 

For the launch of the Think Tank Observatory Lab, the president of the Foundation, Abelardo Rodríguez and the Dean of IE University, Francisco Mata, signed a cooperative agreement at the Vicente Calderon stadium. The center will be able to benefit from the technical and human resources of the University for the Development of activities. 

IE University will launch its Business Lab at the Segovian Mint, the restoration of which was completed last year. The Mint itself was founded by Felipe II and built by Juan de Herrera between 1583 and 1588. The lab will house a business incubator to channel student business initiatives and develop outside projects  to help assess major corporations and institutions, including the Atlético Madrid Foundation, the HRT F1 Team (the Spanish team in Formula 1), INDRA , One to One , the Spanish Olympic Committee, and Prysma.

IE University y la Fundación Atlético de Madrid colaboran en materia de investigación deportiva 

La Fundación Atlético de Madrid e IE University pondrán en marcha el Observatorio Lab Think Tank, dentro de la labor de I+D+I que lleva a cabo la entidad deportiva. Se trata de un observatorio para promover investigaciones aplicadas al mundo del deporte, tanto en materia de marketing, gestión, educación física como en medicina deportiva. El objetivo del centro de investigación es desarrollar actividades encaminadas a mejorar la vida de los deportistas, así como aproximar a la sociedad los valores representados por el deporte. 

Para la puesta en marcha del Observatorio Lab Think Tank, el presidente de la Fundación Atlético de Madrid, Abelardo Rodríguez, y el Decano de IE University, Francisco Mata, han firmado un acuerdo de colaboración en el Estadio Vicente Calderón. Para el desarrollo de las actividades, el centro contará con los medios técnicos y humanos de esta universidad internacional. 

IE University pondrá en marcha su Laboratorio Empresarial en el edificio cultural de la Casa de Moneda de Segovia, fundada por Felipe II y construida por Juan de Herrera entre 1583 y 1588, cuya rehabilitación concluyó el año pasado. El laboratorio albergará una incubadora de empresas para canalizar las iniciativas emprendedoras de los estudiantes y desarrollará proyectos de asesoría externa a importantes empresas e instituciones, entre las que figuran la Fundación Atlético de Madrid, HRT F1 Team (la escudería española de Fórmula 1), INDRA, One to One, el Comité Olímpico Español o Prysma.  Read more…

Law student Marta Ottogalli, –a native of Mogliano Veneto, Italy, who’s currently enrolled at IE University in Segovia, Spain–recently visited the Latham & Watkins office in Madrid for an afternoon of mentoring.

Marta, awarded with of Latham & Watkins’ Scholarship for Entrepreneurial Lawyering in Spain, says she was grateful for the opportunity to taste a bit of the “exciting world” of corporate law.

Marta met with various personnel, including junior and senior lawyers, and then had the chance to ask Juan Manuel de Remedios, partner of Latham & Watkins , questions about his practice and law career.

Today IE University signed a cooperation agreement with the Spanish Seniors for Technical Cooperation (SECOT) association that will allow counseling for the implementation of students´ business projects. The agreement was created to promote collaboration between academia and industry and to stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit and innovative ideas of students. The agreement was made possible through the participation of the Chamber of Commerce Mexico-Spain, an organization particularly involved in the development of initiatives of this nature and in the internationalization of young entrepreneurs´ projects. 

The agreement was signed today by the Dean of IE University Francisco Mata and the Secretary General of SECOT Spain Carlos Garcia Cebrian. The event was attended by the Director of Institutional and Corporate Relations at SECOT Carmen Aleman and the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce Mexico – Spain, Eduardo Ocampo, among other authorities. In addition, representatives from the Office of SECOT in Segovia as well as Tomás Fernández de Larrinoa, President of SECOT Valladolid also attended the event. 

SECOT is a nonprofit association whose members are retirees or early retirees which, upon completion of their professional career are dedicated to advising and training an altruisticly and selflessly the businesses of the new entrepreneurial generations. Thus, these senior professionals are joining IE University´s project in order to create a business incubator (UIS Lab Start-up) to channel, encourage and assist the business projects of students in different sectors. The senior volunteer network of business advisory will support young entrepreneurs and help them develop their business ideas, and to contribute in this way to the economic progress of Segovia, Castilla y Leon. 

The main objectives of this agreement are to give young entrepreneurs at IE University the opportunity to receive advice from SECOT expert s, promoting joint and vocational training, studies on topics related to active aging, and joint participation in activities that promote debate on how to encourage entrepreneurship in Segovia.

IE University suscribió un convenio de colaboración con la asociación Seniors Españoles para la Cooperación Técnica (SECOT) que permitirá  el asesoramiento para la puesta en marcha de los proyectos empresariales de los alumnos.

El acuerdo nace para favorecer la colaboración entre universidad y empresa, además de estimular el carácter emprendedor y las ideas innovadoras de los estudiantes. El convenio ha sido posible gracias a la participación de la Cámara de Comercio México- España, organización especialmente implicada en el desarrollo de iniciativas de esta naturaleza así como en la internacionalización de los proyectos que surjan de los jóvenes emprendedores. 

El convenio fue rubricado hoy por el Decano de IE University Francisco Mata y el Secretario General de SECOT España Carlos García Cebrián. Al acto asistieron la Directora de Relaciones Institucionales y Corporativas de SECOT  Carmen Alemán y el  Vicepresidente de la Cámara de Comercio México-España, Eduardo Ocampo, entre otras autoridades. Además, asistieron representantes de la Oficina de SECOT en Segovia y Tomás Fernández de Larrinoa, Presidente de SECOT Valladolid. 

SECOT es una asociación sin ánimo de lucro cuyos socios son personas jubiladas o prejubiladas que, una vez concluida su etapa profesional, se dedican a asesorar y formar de forma altruista y desinteresada a las nuevas generaciones empresariales. De esta manera, estos profesionales “senior” se suman al proyecto de IE University de crear un vivero de empresas  (IEU Start-up Lab) destinado a canalizar, incentivar y ayudar los proyectos empresariales de sus alumnos en diferentes sectores. La red de voluntariado senior de asesoramiento empresarial apoyará a los jóvenes emprendedores para que desarrollen sus ideas negocio y contribuyan, de esta forma, al progreso económico de Segovia y de Castilla y León. 

Los objetivos generales de este convenio establecen el asesoramiento por parte de los expertos de SECOT a los jóvenes emprendedores de IE University, la promoción de actividades conjuntas de formación y capacitación técnico-profesional, la realización de estudios sobre temas relacionados con el envejecimiento activo, y la participación conjunta en actividades que promuevan el debate sobre cómo incentivar el emprendedurismo en Segovia.
