Laurence Baker
Laurence Baker is chief of Health Services Research at Stanford University, a professor of health research and policy, and a CHP/PCOR fellow. He is an economist interested in the organization and economic performance of the U.S. healthcare system. His research focuses on the effects of managed care on the healthcare system; the effects of regulation on healthcare markets; the determinants and effects of technological change in medicine; the culture of patient safety in U.S. hospitals; physicians’ incomes and career choices; and how the Internet and e-mail influence healthcare delivery and outcomes. He received his BA from Calvin College, and his MA and PhD in economics from Princeton University.

Conferencia del profesor Laurence Baker, de la Universidad de Stanford

El profesor de la Universidad de Stanford, Laurence Baker, impartirá el próximo viernes 11 de marzo, a las 12,30 horas, en la Sala de Refectorio de IE University la conferencia  “Will Obama’s Reform of the US Healthcare System Succeed? La ponencia se enmarca dentro del programa denominado “Stanford en IE Segovia”, en el que un grupo de alumnos de la universidad norteamericana, que cursan un intenso programa de inmersión académica y cultural en España, visitan Segovia para compartir actividades y experiencias con los alumnos de IE University. 

Antes de la conferencia, el Vicerrector de Estudiantes de IE University, Miguel Larrañaga, realizará una visita guiada por el Campus de Santa Cruz la Real, que cuenta con más de 18.000 metros cuadrados de aulas, talleres, laboratorios, estudios de radio y televisión, salas de conferencias y espacios comunes, donde las nuevas tecnologías se integran en un conjunto monumental del siglo XIII. Los alumnos de Stanford, universidad considerada un referente mundial en educación superior, aprovecharán su visita para conocer la riqueza patrimonial de la ciudad de Segovia, su Acueducto Romano, su Álcazar y su Catedral gótica, entre otros monumentos.
