Last 1st- 3rd September, Professor Laura Fernández Muñoz from IE School of Architecture took part in the 5th EAAE/ENHSA Architectural Theory Subgroup Workshop organized by the European Association for Architectural Education – EAAE. She gave a lecture under the title The Montage of Flat Surfaces through Journeys, based on the lines of research of her doctoral thesis. The workshop took place at the Centre for Mediterranean Architecture – Technical University of Crete, Greece.

Los días 1-3 de septiembre la profesora Laura Fernández Muñoz de IE School of Architecture participó en el 5th EAAE/ENHSA Architectural Theory Subgroup Workshop organizado por la European Association for Architectural Education – EAAE. Impartió una conferencia bajo el título The Montage of Flat Surfaces through Journeys, basada en las líneas de investigación de su tesis doctoral. El taller tuvo lugar en el Centre for Mediterranean Architecture – Technical University of Crete, Grecia.

El periódico El Norte de Castilla, edición local, ha iniciado una campaña de apoyo a la candidatura de Segovia a la capitalidad cultural europea en 2016. Esta campaña consiste en la publicación de una serie de artículos firmados por los representantes más destacados de diferentes sectores de la sociedad para que expliquen las razones de su apoyo. Dieciséis ciudades suspiran por la Capitalidad Cultural Europea, cuya primera criba se conocerá a finales del mes de septiembre.

El Norte de Castilla publica hoy un artículo del Rector, Santiago Íñiguez, en el que manifiesta el apoyo de nuestra Universidad a la candidatura de Segovia, ciudad que acoge el campus de IE University,

El profesor de IE School of Architecture, Juan Antonio Rodríguez, ha sido premiado con una Distinción COAM 2010 en el apartado de divulgación de la Arquitectura por su trabajo “Arqtopsia: sobre arquitectura”.

- IE University has renewed its agreement to serve as chief sponsor and academic partner of the upcoming edition of Hay Festival Segovia.

- Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, Swedish explorer Mikael Strandberg, and historian and hispanist Geoffrey Parker will be sharing experiences and insights with IE University professors.

- IE University students will take part in the Festival’s press conference  and its team of multilingual volunteers. 

IE University and the Festival of Literature and Arts Charitable Trust have signed an agreement whereby the University has renewed and expanded on its role of chief sponsor for the 5th edition of Hay Festival Segovia, which will serve as an international platform to bring together over 100 writers and thinkers from around the world on September 18 to 26. Santiago Íñiguez de Onzoño, Rector of IE University, and María Sheila Cremaschi, representing the Festival of Literature and Arts Charitable Trust Foundation, have signed an agreement whereby IE University will contribute to the organization of the festival with experts, resources and facilities. 

Santiago Iñiguez, Rector of IE University, said that the University is delighted to share the Hay Festival’s commitment to bring to Segovia thought leaders with such a large range of visions for a global world. “The Festival embodies the spirit underlying the educational experience we provide at IE, and we hope that our contribution will further add to the enjoyment of everyone at the Festival.” 

María Sheila Cremaschi, Director of Hay Festival Segovia, underscored the fact that the Festival organisers “share with IE University a belief in the importance of critical through processes, coupled with a desire to showcase 21st century Segovia as being comparable to the Florence of the Medici”, adding a quote by Peter Florence: “For real change, let’s talk of dreams”. El arquitecto y profesor de IE School of Architecture de IE University, Cesare Battelli ha participado como tutor en un workshop internacional en la Universidad de Arquitectura de Venecia (Italia), dirigido por Benedetta Tagliabue, prestigiosa arquitecta italiana que dirige el  estudio “Miralles Tagliabue EMBT”. 

En esta edición del workshop se desarrollaba el concepto museo senza collezione, inspirado en un encuentro metafórico entre los artistas Pablo Picasso y Chang dai Chein en la ciudad de Venecia, ciudad que históricamente ha sido cruce cultural entre oriente y occidente. El resultado final ha sido la creación de una “nueva” Venecia plasmada en un gran mapa y en maquetas confeccionadas en wireframe en forma de paisaje aéreo, realizado por los cerca de ochenta estudiantes participantes en el curso. 

Además del profesor Battelli, participaron como tutores los arquitectos Karl Unglaub y Francesca Ciprini.
