José María Lozano, director and cinema, TV and multimedia scriptwriter, received the Prize for the Best Business Plan presented by IE University’s Bancaja Chair for Young Entrepreneurs, for his business plan for an online low-cost high-quality audio-visual content producer. The prize, which is presented in collaboration with the Castilla y León Universities Foundation and the Bancaja Foundation, is designed to foster the entrepreneurial spirit and promote business ideas among the university community.         Read more…

More than 50 international experts to examine new challenges in the field

The IE School of Communication at IE University and the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication are partnering to organize the international symposium Transnational Connections Challenges and Opportunities for Political Communication. The event will take place at the IE University campus in Segovia, Spain on March 24-25 and will bring together the top academic experts and practitioners from throughout the world to discuss new trends in the field.

IE School of Communication / IE University y la Annenberg School of Communication de la Universidad de Pennsylvania, organizarán los próximos días 24 y 25 de marzo el simposio internacional: “Transnational Connection: Challenges and Opportunities for Political Communication”. La Asamblea Nacional del Ecuador debate en estos días una Ley de Comunicación a propuesta del Presidente de la República, Rafael Correa. La iniciativa ha levantado numerosas reacciones en el país latinoamericano. Mientras desde las filas de la oposición se sostiene que el Mandatario pretende con la normativa coartar la libertad de expresión, el Ejecutivo argumenta que los medios de comunicación son un poder que necesita ser regulado.

Con el objetivo de analizar la situación que atraviesa la prensa en Ecuador, el próximo miércoles 24 de febrero de 2010 a las 12:30h en el Campus de IE University en Segovia, tendrá lugar la conferencia “Periodismo y Democracia en Ecuador”. El evento  contará con la participación de Galo Chiriboga Zambrano, embajador de Ecuador en España; Miguel Ángel Bastenier, columnista y editorialista del diario ‘El País’ y Carlos Vera reconocido comunicador y activista político ecuatoriano. De moderar el debate se encargará Patricia Villarruel, profesora de Periodismo Iberoamericano en IE School of Communication y Corresponsal de diario El Universo de Ecuador. Read more…
